Add custom objects

The tool is highlighted with a blue circle on the image above. You can add custom objects in to Design Space scene. Custom objects support .fbx format. There are two different ways to upload your custom objects in to the Design Space which are explained in this tutorial. After uploading, how to add those custom objects to your DS scene

Add custom objects to the tool

1. Upload manager

From the client, open upload manager. Click "Static models" button and select all the custom objects you want to upload. After selecting click "Add to queue" and upload your own custom objects.

After uploading the custom objects. Create a new scene, and when you are creating the scene select all the custom objects you need from the Assets.

2. Folder (one build needed)

Open C:\Users\"USERNAME"\Documents\Design Space folder, drag and drop your desired custom objects to the Models folder.

All the custom objects added to Models folder will be automatically added under the Add object tool and they will be there in every scene. If you create new scene you don't need to select the custom objects from the Assets.


Add custom object to the scene

After selecting the tool, select the desired custom object from the on the right side of the menu controller. Selecting the object happens with tool controller, point the wanted object with tool controllers pointer and click trigger, selected object gets highlighted.

Placing the custom object happens with clicking the tool controllers trigger once and the object appears in to the top of the controller. Move the object to wanted location and click trigger again and set the object to the place.

Cancel

Click tool controllers menu button to cancel, for example the objects scale was incorrect

Delete

You need to select the add objects tool first to delete objects. Then point the object, when it gets highlighted click tool controllers menu button to delete it

Move

You need to select the add objects tool first to move your creations or Select, move, copy -tool. Then point the wanted object with tool controllers pointer, when it gets highlighted, hold tool controllers touch wheel and you can move the object to the wanted position, releasing the touch wheel releases the object

Copy

You need to select the add objects tool first to move your creations or Select, move, copy -tool. Then point the object with tool controller, when it gets highlighted, click tool controllers trigger button and hold it to move the copied shape to the wanted position, releasing the trigger releases the object

1. Close tool

Close the current tool and return to the tool menu

2. XYZ

If you have placed the custom object to the cordinates with design software. After you have selected the wanted object, click XYZ button and the object is created to the cordinates automatically.

3. Sizes

Highlighted color indicates the current measurement size. Changing it applies to the next added object.

All the different snaps what the tool includes


1. Snap to plane (x-axis as normal)

Locks the object movement on x-axis

2. Snap to plane (y-axis as normal)

Locks the object movement on y-axis

3. Snap to plane (z-axis as normal)

Locks the object movement on z-axis

4. Lock position

Locks the objects current position

5. Lock rotation

Locks the objects rotation, so model can't be rotated

6. Incremental rotation

Objects rotation is locked to 90° angles

7. Snap to closest axis

Snaps the objects position to the closest axis

8. Snap to surface

Snaps the object to an surface

9. Upright snap

Keeps the Y-axis upwards
